Ovarian Cancer - Break the Silence

It's a disease that's not well understood, that isn't talked about and not much is known about. Yet ovarian cancer is one of the most serious forms of cancer, killing one Australian woman every ten hours. Whilst it is less common than breast cancer, proportionally more women perish from ovarian cancer in Australia each year.

 National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF)

Each year, over 13 000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer, making it the most common cancer among Australian women. Imagine how many other people this affects - their partners, parents, children, friends and work colleagues. A lesser-known fact is that 100 Australian men are also diagnosed with the disease each year.
While around 2600 Australians die from breast cancer each year, the good news is that NBCF are detecting breast cancer earlier and making huge advancements in the way we treat the disease.

Rachel Stanfield-Porter founded the Bonnie Babes Foundation over 16 years ago after the loss of her first two sons.  Rachel conducted 2½ years of research before officially launching the Bonnie Babes Foundation in 1994 along with midwives, psychologists and doctors she enlisted to help her.   Galvanised by her previous tragedies and the lack of support available, Rachel felt compelled to help other families struggling through the emotional pain she and Allan had experienced.
The charity was started in Rachel’s Lounge Room in 1994 with great dedication and a vision to help others.    www.bbf.org.au
